What is an In-home Lifestyle Newborn Photography Session Like?
There is something special about photographing a new baby at home.
It's where you're learning your new routines, where you spend those quiet hours feeding and snuggling your baby, and where so many of their first memories begin.
An in-home lifestyle newborn session lets us document some of that while creating beautiful photographs of your baby and your family in a place that already means something to you.
Every Home Looks Different
One of the things I love about in-home newborn photography is that no two sessions look exactly the same.
Some homes are light and bright. Some have deeper colors and beautiful shadows. You may have a carefully decorated nursery you can't wait to photograph, or we may find that the best light in your home is coming through your bedroom window.
I don't need your entire house to photograph beautifully.
Part of my job is looking at your home, finding the best light and choosing the spaces that will work well for photographs.
Sometimes we may only use two or three small areas of your home—and you would never know from the finished gallery what was just outside the frame.
You Don't Need a Perfect Nursery
If you've spent months creating a nursery for your baby, I absolutely want to photograph it.
The crib, the little details you chose, the rocking chair where you'll spend countless hours—those things can become part of the story.
But a nursery isn't required for an in-home newborn session.
We can create beautiful photographs on your bed, beside a window, on the couch, or in another simple area with beautiful light.
Your home doesn't have to look like someone else's home for your photographs to be beautiful.
It just needs to be yours.
Some of my in-home newborn clients haven't had a nursery at all—and we still created a complete newborn gallery.
Your Home, Your Story
Why Choose an In-Home Newborn Session?
For some families, there's simply no place they'd rather document this season than home.
You don't have to pack everything your newborn might possibly need and leave the house. Older siblings can take breaks in their own space. Your pets can even become part of the story if you'd like.
And years from now, the surroundings in these photographs may mean even more than they do today.
This was your baby's first home.
This was where you rocked them.
Where you held them.
Where you were becoming a family in a completely new way.
An in-home newborn session isn't about having the perfect house.
It's about creating beautiful photographs of your family in the middle of the season you're actually living.
Hi There!
I'm Kris, the photographer behind KP Portraits. I photograph newborns and motherhood throughout Tyler and the surrounding East Texas area, including in-home lifestyle newborn sessions.
If you're wondering whether your home would work for a newborn session, don't worry about having everything figured out before you reach out. We can talk about your space, the light in your home and the kind of photographs you're hoping to create together
